Eastern Kentucky University has issued a public safety alert after a man said he was robbed on campus.
EKU officials say the victim told police around 11 p.m. Tuesday, two men approached him in the area of the Keene Hall parking lot, and demanded money.
The victim said the suspects' actions led him to believe they were armed with a weapon.
EKU Police are now investigating this incident.
"Fortunately things like this happen few and far between. But we use this as an opportunity to warn students to be proactive," said Marc Whitt, Associate Vice President at EKU.
Officials say one suspect is a white man, around 5'7" or 5'8", with short black hair, and a small amount of facial hair. He was wearing a jacket of an unknown color at the time of the robbery.
Officials say the other suspect is a black man, around 6'0", with short black hair. He was wearing dark colored jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.
EKU students were shocked to learn about the incident through an email and even more surprised to learn the victim was a male.
"Especially since it was male. I'm used to it being a female getting stuff stolen, or attacked, so when it turns out to be a male, that is really scary," says EKU sophomore, Jessica Allen.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call EKU Police at 859-622-1111.
