BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department has warrants to arrest 150 parents who have not paid child support.
"They're responsible for taking care of the children so that's why the state of Kentucky sets a standard for them to pay child support and we just enforce the standard," said Deputy Claude Hudson.
Sheriff's Deputies are actively looking for all the parents. However, deputies have tried to serve dozens of the warrants, but say almost all of the parents are not at the addresses they gave the child support office.
"They'll be entered into NCIC link so if the person with the warrant is pulled over in another county on a traffic stop, at that point the officer pulling them over will know there's an outstanding child support warrant on the subject. They'll be incarcerated at that time," said Deputy Hudson.
Deputies say anyone who is wanted for not paying child support can also call the Sheriff's Department and agree to turn themselves in.
Anyone who knows where a parent with a warrant is, you can also report it to the Knox County Sheriff's Department.
