Local Woman Makes History

A former Eastern Kentucky state police captain has made her way to Frankfort after becoming only the second woman in history to be promoted to State Police Lieutenant Colonel.

The Appalachian News Express reports Leslie Gannon, former captain of the Pikeville Kentucky State Police Post, was promoted to the post in charge of the administration division on Monday and started her new job on Friday.

Gannon is a graduate of Belfry High School. She became the captain in Pikeville in August of 2007.
