Ky. Ag Commissioner Says State Needs More Ride Inspectors

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Richie
Farmer says Kentucky needs more inspectors to keep amusement ride
patrons safe.
Farmer says while no one's been killed on a Kentucky amusement
ride, people have been injured.
Last summer, 13-year-old Kaitlyn Lassiter's feet were severed
after a cable snapped on the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six
Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville.
The state has 8 full-time inspectors, but Farmer says 5 to 8
more are needed.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is facing a 12 percent
cut in Gov. Steve Beshear's proposed budget.
