Wintry Weather Creates Slick Travel

The wintry mix across the region is making it tough on drivers.

Many drivers say they won't risk getting into an accident until snow covered roads across the region improve. Drivers say they would rather stay home and be safe then risk a crash.

"I started across the hill over here at Vest and it was real slick so I turned around by the time I got back to the top of the hill, it was covered again," said Jennifer Baker.

Scrapers were out in full force as people tried to get their cars cleared off to drive but with roads still slick and re-freezing tonight, many churches had to cancel Wednesday night services. A Cumberland church had to call off a meal for the hungry.

"It's for the elderly people that eat alone and for people that are hungry and we don't want to get them out and get them hurt," said Rev. Chuck Spice with the Cumberland United Methodist Church.

Many people braved slick conditions on Black Mountain to check out the nearly foot of snow that fell there.
