19 youngsters found unattended in Kentucky home

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP/WYMT) - Authorities in south-central Kentucky say 19 youngsters were left unattended for about a week in a sweltering home in Bowling Green.

The children were found Monday when the Warren County sheriff's office responded to a complaint.

Deputies found 19 children ranging from 8 months to 14 years old with no supervision and no working air conditioning or food.

All the children were treated at a local hospital and then placed into protective custody.

Nine dogs and one cat were also removed.

Conditions inside the residence were in excess of 90 degrees.

Temperatures reached 101 degrees in Bowling Green on Monday.

Police are still investigating.
