PINEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The family of a 91-year-old man beaten to death five years ago says they finally have justice.

A Bell County jury found Brian Hatfield, Candy Maiden, and Deborah Partin guilty of complicity to murder for the death of William Taylor.

Candy Maiden, Brian Hatfield, and Deborah Partin cried when the jury's verdict was read.

The guilty verdicts are just what the Taylor family wanted to hear.

"This has been a long five and a half years," said Kathy Taylor, his daughter.

Their father died in January of 2008. Police say Maiden, Hatfield, and Partin beat him during a home invasion.

"The community can now know a three people who caused the death of a 91-year-old man have been brought to justice," said Karen Greene Blondell, Bell County Commonwealth's Attorney.

Complicity to murder carries a sentence anywhere from 20 years in prison to life in prison. The jury recommended a 20 year sentence for all three defendants.

"We'll be back with another day in court and I'm not going to stop until Brian's free," said Donna Hatfield, Brian Hatfield's step-mother.

During the penalty phase testimony, Deborah Partin admitted she got addicted to painkillers when she had cancer. Family members of Brian Hatfield and Candy Maiden also testified Hatfield and Maiden had a drug problem. However, the family members say even though the three used drugs, the families still believe they did not kill Taylor.

"The Taylor family deserves justice. I feel sorry for them. He's (Brian) not a bad person they portrayed here today; he's innocent," said Donna Hatfield.

The Taylor family said they are pleased with the trial's outcome.

"This was a no-win situation for all families involved, especially the children, but I feel my 91-year-old, 136 pound, 5' 6" father got the justice he deserved," said Kathy Taylor.

Sentencing for Maiden, Hatfield, and Partin is scheduled for June 3rd.

A fourth person charged in the case, Jeremiah Evans took a plea deal in exchange to testify against the other three. He will also be sentenced later this year.
