Karen Sypher files another motion to get out of prison

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - It's being called a last-ditch effort.

The woman convicted of trying to extort Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino has filed another motion, asking to be released from prison.

Legal experts say this is Karen Sypher's last chance. The U.S. Supreme Court has already refused to review her case.

Sypher has worked with three attorneys in the past, but this time she plans to represent herself.

In the new motion, Sypher attacks the validity of the federal conviction against her, and she claims her Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights were violated.

To prove her claims, Sypher asks the court to find evidence in the book she wrote about the case.

Sypher is currently at a federal prison in Alabama. She's not scheduled to be released until 2017.
