Childcare Center Receives Grant

A local childcare center receives a $50,000 grant to support its learning and development programs.

Toyota Motor Engineering presented a check to Community Ministries at the New Beginnings Child Development Center in Hazard Thursday.

Executive Director Gerry Roll says the money will allow the center to continue its mission of early childhood education at New Beginnings and Starland.

"So to have Toyota come all the way out to Hazard and recognize that we have one of the highest quality programs in the state and it's worth investing in our children, is a very high honor and we are so pleased to have them here today to do this," Roll said.

Hazard is just one of four communities across the state to receive the Toyota grant. The United Way helped Toyota select who would receive the grants.
