Cool Weather Brings Out More Brown Recluse Spiders

Brown recluse spiders are one of the prime spiders of Kentucky. During the summer months, the spiders can become fairly abundant in numbers.

Changes in the weather can dramatically influence where these spiders decide to live. Brown recluses usually reside in warm, dark, and dry locations. With the recent cool weather, these spiders may migrate into nearby houses.

Brown recluse spiders can be identified by their delicate legs, and more importantly, the fiddle shape on their back. They are normally not aggressive towards humans unless threatened.

The spiders can enter in through cracks and pipes. Weather-proofing windows and doors may help keep brown recluses out.
