When you're sick, you might go to the doctor and get a prescription for something to make you feel better.

But medication might not always be the only solution.

Doctors at a new health clinic that opened just last week say they're trying a different approach.

Doctors at the Grace Community Health Center in Knox County are treating hundreds of patients, many who have no insurance.

When a doctor comes in to the examination room at the Grace Center, they obviously want to treat the patient physically, but they say their mission is to do much more than just that.

The say they don't have to zip through 30 to 40 patients a day just to make enough money to stay open.

Government grants and extra funding from the community is allowing them to have extra time with each patient.

One woman is requesting Valium to deal with the news that her husband is terminally ill.

“Because I had a little more time, I asked her how she was doing. She broke down and cried. I found out what her thoughts were about God, what her husband's thoughts were about God. We were able to pray together for her as well as for her husband,” Dr. Bruce Jung said.

One doctor says he believes about 50 percent of cases are not even medical.

“It's an addiction, a lifestyle issue, stress from a marriage, stress from finances, etc,” Dr. David Worthy said.

“They don't give you a prescription especially, pain pills for everything that happens to you,” Lisa Cornett said.

Lisa Cornett says her longtime doctor who's now practicing at the clinic has helped her through cancer.

By diagnosing people as a whole, doctors here hope to get people feeling well for good.

Doctors at the Grace Community Health Center say they refer many people to local churches for counseling.
