'Tis the season for overeating.
Alicia Cook says, "I try to look for low fat item, I try to eat vegetables, but unfortunately, I do choose some of the tastier items."
Ricky Collins says, "I never change my eating habits, I eat all the time!"
Jackie Fraley, a local dietician says holidays bring in unhealthy eating habits. She says skipping a meal to make up for a holiday dinner often leads to overeating and more calories. "It actually takes your stomach 20 minutes to tell your brain that it's full, and if you are an eater that just shovels it in as fast as you can, then you've over eaten before you get the message."
Fraley says stress can also lead to overeating, but she says it is important to focus on keeping off the extra pounds, not slimming down.
She says, "Maintaining weight is the primary concern. We will actually worry about the weight loss with the new years resolutions."
Fraley says keeping track of how much you eat is one of the best ways to keep your waistline from expanding. Fraley says planning ahead and cutting calories before the holidays gives a little extra room to splurge on a big meal.
