Salyersville Man Jailed After Standoff With Police

A Salyersville man is in jail after a chase and standoff with police in Southern Kentucky.

The chase Tuesday afternoon went through parts of Laurel and Whitley Counties and caused one accident involving a police cruiser.

The suspect, 45 year old Douglas Shepherd, finally wrecked and ran off with a handgun. After a 45 minute standoff, Shepherd surrendered.

He faces numerous charges.

Officer Bill Rose had to be treated for minor injuries.
