Beginning at 6:30 Wednesday morning, officers of the Middlesboro Police Department began serving arrest warrants obtained by Detective Michael Hensley as the result of ongoing drug trafficking investigations.
As of 3:00 PM Wednesday, 15 local residents have been arrested on 20 charges. Three of these charges resulted from drugs and/or paraphernalia discovered in possession at the time of arrest. All suspects were transported to the Bell County Detention Center and will appear in Bell District Court.
The majority of these charges arose from undercover buys made over the last 6 to 8 months. They involve drugs ranging from crack cocaine to prescription pills to marijuana. Several warrants from this phase of the investigation remain unserved at press time and it is expected that the remaining arrests will occur over the next few days.
The Middlesboro Police Department is committed to the fight against substance abuse and illegal trafficking in all forms and we encourage the community to continue to assist in any way possible. We accept tips in any form.
