3 vehicles involved in deadly crash

One person is dead tonight after a head-on collision in Rowan County.

It happened just after 7:00 on State Highway 377 near Morehead.

State Police say it isn't clear what caused the first car to cross the center line, but they believe that's what set in motion 2 collisions involving 3 cars and a total of four people.

Investigators say a white Malibu was headed northbound on Highway 377 when it crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a grey Chrysler. It was the passenger of the Malibu who died from injuries suffered in the crash.

The drivers of both those cars were airlifted to UK Hospital in critical condition. The driver of a white Oldsmobile was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after colliding with the first two cars.

State Police say a collision reconstruction team will return in the morning to complete its investigation.
