The third year of bear hunting season begins on December 10th.
That’s a week earlier and there is another big change this year.
Fish and Wildlife officials say hunters can no longer take a bear from a den.
Other than that, officials say everything else will remain the same.
The hunt is open to any Kentucky resident and there is a limit of one bear per hunter.
Wildlife Bilogist Jayson Plaxico says he expects a bigger turn out this year now that the season has been moved up.
"The weather has been bad. Big snow storms arrived. So this year we moved it up a little to give people the opportunity to get where the bears are,” Plaxico said.
Bear season is only open in Pike, Letcher, and Harlan Counties.
