NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Four people have been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve on the board of the Tennessee Valley Authority, a federal utility that serves 8.5 million people in six states.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/UpHyQ9) reports the nominations of D.V. Lynn Evans, Joe H. Ritch, Marilyn A. Brown and Michael McWherter. Democratic U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen said in a statement that he recommended Evans, who is a certified public accountant from Memphis.
U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said looks forward to learning more about the nominees, who will be responsible helping set strategies, goals and objectives for the utility that has customers in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia.
