Search Begins For Missing Man

A Pike County family is desperate because their relative has been missing for more than 24 hours.

Family members say they are especially concerned because he's in a wheelchair, and does not have the medication he needs everyday.

Robert Hettiger's family has not seen him since 11 am Wednesday, when he left for class at southern West Virginia Community College.

His wife says he should have been home no later than 9:30 that night.

"He was supposed to have a class at six oclock but I came to find out it was cancelled and he told me he loved me before he left," Rhonda Hettiger said.

Robert has Spina Bifida and several other health concerns, but none of his medication is with him... leaving his family scared about both his whereabouts, and his health.

Kentucky State Police say he made a phone call from his cell phone in Hazard before 7 pm Wednesday to a number with a Lexington area code.

His family says he had no reason to be in Perry County or the money to get to Lexington.

Hettiger's wife says she just feels helpless.

Robert Hettiger drives a gold Dodge Caravan built for wheelchair access, with a Harley Davidson license plate.

If you have any information on where he is... you should call state police.
