Middlesboro City Council Approves Flood Ordinance

The Middlesboro City Council passed an ordinance designed to prevent structural damage from flooding.

Council members say FEMA required the city to pass the ordinance in order for residents to stay eligible for flood insurance. Now residents in designated flood prone areas throughout Middlesboro must consult with the city before making any structural changes to make sure their homes remain resistant to flood damage.
