A one year breast cancer survivor is reminding women everywhere to get regular checkups.
Jean Johnson says she was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2005 with no history of cancer in her family. After a mastectomy and months of chemo and radiation, she is now reminding women to get regular mammograms and always keep a positive attitude.
"It's not a death sentence now. They have so much medication and even if it's in your lymph nodes, I have talked to women and it's even spread to other parts of their body and they're still here and it's twenty years later, so it's not a death sentence," said Johnson.
Johnson says she celebrated her one year anniversary with a vacation.
