Funeral services for a Laurel County miner were held today, while investigators continued examining the Knox County mine where he died.
56 year old Joe "Pete" Seay was a roof bolter with 23 years of mining experience.
State mining officials say Seay was killed when a five foot long piece of the roof fell and struck his head inside the D and R coal mine number two.
Mining officials say his body was found ten feet from the roof bolting machine he was operating.
"I was coming to my husband's funeral hoping to have more of an understanding," said Seay's widow Lagail. "I know no more than I did at the beginning, and that's nothing."
Seay's death is the 14th mining fatality in Kentucky in 2006.
