Some members of an Eastern Kentucky City Council are looking to combine three cities, or at least their water utilities.
The Harlan Daily Enterprise reports that members of the Cumberland City Council want to merge the tri-cities in Harlan County.
The merger would affect Cumberland, Benham and Lynch.
Officials say eventually the cities will probably need to consolidate, but problems with the town's water supply could force a merger sooner than later.
While some officials are advocating the move, they are not looking at the issue as a short term goal.
