The decision to allow liquor by the drink sales divided an eastern Kentucky community, but it paved the way for a major hotel and resort.

That project took a major step forward and many in Pineville are already looking forward to what it could do for the area.

Stephanie Lankford is a senior at Bell Co. High School and she is trying to figure out where to go to college and what she'll do after that.

She wants stay close to home, something she says many people her age can't always do.

So Lankford is excited about the multi-million dollar hotel and resort about to be built in Pineville and the over 100 jobs it's expected to bring.

The city of Pineville awarded a contract to a North Carolina developer which means building plans for the one-hundred plus room full service hotel should start moving forward.

It will also have convention space to hold over 400 people.

As Lankford plans for her future she's happy that she can consider the option of staying close to home, a home that will be changing in the months ahead.

Developers hope to begin building the new hotel by next spring and have it completed by the summer of 2008.
