There is certainly no love lost when it comes to many political opponents, but for friends Lawrence Kuhl and Gene Huff, the Laurel County Judge Executive race is, quite frankly, filled with mutual admiration.
"He's of great character." says Kuhl. "Mr. Huff is a good man, good moral man, got good family. I appreciate having an opponent like him."
Huff is just as complimentary.
"Judge Kuhl, He is one of the finest characters I know," says Huff. "He's aggressive, and dedicated."
Incumbent Lawrence Kuhl is finishing up his first term as Laurel County Judge Executive.
But he says his work as former president of a local bank, has helped him shape Laurel County for years.
"I know where to go to get these things done." says Kuhl. "I'm very active, I'm very aggressive, and I push for success."
Meanwhile, Gene Huff says his 26 years as a former state senator and representative have afforded him the ability to understand how the system works...
"We're going to have to have sources of income beyond the county" says Huff. "And having served in legislature, I think I know where to go for state funding."
And as both candidates spoke about the tremendous growth of Laurel County, they said traffic has become a concern.
"Currently we have I-75, a federal road going through, and the promise of I-66 coming through," says Huff. "And I think the traffic problem is one of the major problems I want to deal with."
"I'm at the forefront of all that." says Kuhl. "These people talk about it, but I'm active in it, I'm there. I'm the one that helps make these decisions."
Just as the people of Laurel County have a decision to make on Election Day.
