The search for a missing Floyd County man began around 9 Thursday morning, but ended Thursday afternoon after a family member found his body while searching the area he was last seen.
Loved ones of a Floyd County man says he's been missing since October 17th. Rescue crews spanned out across the mountain side Jeffery Gordon Bolen lived trying to retrace his steps.
"We've been in the Beech Fork area looking for this gentleman Jeffery Bolen," said Floyd County Sheriff John K. Blackburn.
Family and friends searched the area they say he was last seen in Hueysville.
Bolen's sister says she has always taken care of her brother and she appreciates rescue crews working hard to help take care of him as well.
"I've had to act like a little bit of a motherly role, I guess you could say," said Tamara Howard.
Family and friends say they kept hope alive, but soon the family's tears of hope turned to tears of sadness as their worst fears came true.
"We have found an i.d. that says, in his billfold, his pocket, says Jeffery Bolen," Sheriff Blackburn said.
The body of Bolen was discovered by his uncle less than 20 feet from the railroad tracks in Hueysville. His family says he usually walked along the roads and they don't know what he would have been doing by the train tracks.
Officials say they are going to send the body to Frankfort for an autopsy, but at this there is no official cause of death.
