Man Pleads Not Guilty In Connection With Alleged Cooper Wire Theft

A Harlan County man pleads not guilty after being charged in connection with an alleged copper wire theft earlier this week.

Police say Russell Burgan of Evarts was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft and wanton endangerment.

Police say Burgan told them he drove James Madden to a Benham Substation where Madden was electrocuted to death. Burgan claimed he didn't know what Madden was doing. Police say they believe Madden was trying to steal copper wire.
