FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - It's election eve and Kentucky campaigns,
including some that lured political heavyweights to the state, are
drawing to a close.
Former President Clinton and first lady Laura Bush were the
major political personalities who stumped for their respective
party's hopefuls.
Incumbents in at least three of Kentucky's Republican-held
congressional seats are facing tough challenges this year. U-S
Senator Mitch McConnell says many members of Congress around the
country are "hustling" as they try to remain in office.
There are more than four-thousand races under consideration
across Kentucky, including more than 247 judicial contests and 52
General Assembly seats up for grabs. Forty-four of them are House
contests and eight are Senate races. Secretary of State Trey
Grayson has predicted about 40 percent of Kentucky's two-point-76
(m) million registered voters will cast ballots.
