Police in Pike County say they have been looking for a man for almost a week. Now after a suspicious house fire, police are saying the man could be dangerous.
Pike County Sheriff Deputies believe this secluded house, before it burned, was a hot spot for drug deals.
"In reality, I think what happened was they stole their drugs," said Chief Deputy Melvin Sayers.
Officers say they raided the house last weekend and found more than drugs. They also found cash, guns and other items reported stolen.
"Just kept finding stuff in the house. It was full of furniture, knives, scanners, surveillance equipment," Sayers said.
Officers arrested one man inside, 21 year old William Adkins. Deputies think the homeowner was the ringleader and say he's still missing and believed dangerous. They say he goes by the name "T" or Terry Adkins, but officers don't think that's his real name. Sayers says the house and everything inside suspiciously burned down sometime this week, destroying any trace of the man.
Deputies do think the missing suspected drug dealer is involved in the fire.
"He did actually call his sister and tell his sister he wasn't coming back, so did what he/she needed to do to get rid of everything that was up there," Sayers said.
Sayers says they had already taken out most of the stolen items before the fire and are searching for all the owners. He says they need help finding the suspect, the man who goes by Terry Adkins. He says they want to stop the man before he goes somewhere else.
Sheriff Deputies ask if you have any information on Terry Adkins or even know his real name to call them at 606-432-6260. Sheriff's Deputies also ask you to call if you believe any of the stolen items might be yours.
