Corbin Pastor To Head Kentucky Baptist Convention

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The pastor of a church in southeastern
Kentucky was elected the president of the Kentucky Baptist
Convention Tuesday.

Darren Gaddis of Central Baptist Church in Corbin defeated
opponent Steve Ayers of Hillvue Heights Baptist Church in Bowling
Green, by a 2-to-1 margin.

Gaddis says he plans to use his presidency to promote Kentucky
Baptist Connect, a program designed to help churches become more
evangelical. Gaddis said the unity of church leaders throughout the
state gives the convention a chance to make significant strides.

Gaddis says his group has a window of peace and an opportunity.

The convention includes more than 23-hundred churches and nearly
eight-hundred thousand.
