Grand Jury To Hear Case Against Former School Board Finance Director

A Johnson County grand jury is expected to hear testimony Thursday against the school board's former finance director and allegations she put her son on the district's payroll while he was in jail.

An audit of the school board's finances says Former Finance Director Peggy Vanhoose paid her son thousands of dollars from 2005 to 2006.

State police are investigating but say they can't release any information at this time.

School officials say the F.B.I. is also investigating now.

School Board Attorney Michael Schmitt, Superintendent Steve Trimble, and school board members all declined comment until after the grand jury hearing. They are all expected to testify in the case.
