Santa Train Heads To Eastern Kentucky

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) - The Santa Train makes its 64th annual
run through Appalachia on Saturday. Bluegrass singer Alison Krauss
will help hand out the toys and supplies.

Santa, Alison and other volunteers on the C-S-X train will hand
out 15 tons of school supplies, clothes and toys as the train makes
its 110-mile run through southeastern Kentucky, western Virginia
and into Kingsport, Tennessee.

Sponsors of the train are C-S-X Transportation, Food City
Grocers and the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce.

The first Santa Train made its run in 1943, while World War Two
raged in both Europe and the Pacific.
