One eastern Kentucky city council has passed the first reading of an ordinance that allows limited sales of alcohol.
The Pineville ordinance allows establishments with 100 seats or more to serve alcohol if it makes up no more than 30 percent of total sales.
Only businesses along Highway 25 E will be able to sell alcohol.
The city council could approve the measure at their next meeting.
Pineville city leaders just finalized a contract for a multi-million dollar hotel to be built in the city.
