Crowded Primary Ballot Could Trigger Runoff Election

Secretary of State Trey Grayson says a long list of potential candidates for governor could trigger a third election next year.

Grayson is telling candidates a runoff election may be necessary if no one gets more than 40 percent of their party's vote in the May 2007 Primary. The rule has been on the books since 1992, but it's never been used before.
