FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The state office of Employment and Training reports unemployment rates have fallen in 108 Kentucky counties. The figures for October, last year through this October show joblessness rose in ten counties and stayed the same in two others.
State officials say none of Kentuckys 120 counties had a jobless rate at or above ten percent this October, compared to three counties that recorded a double-digit rate during the same month a year ago.
Woodford, Warren and Jessamine counties were tied in the latest report for the lowest jobless rate (people working) at 3.4 percent each. Jackson County recorded the states highest unemployment rate people not working) at 9.5 percent. It was followed by Clay County, 8.9 percent; Leslie County, 8.5 percent and McCreary County at 8.3 percent.
