Organization Working To Provide Holiday Cheer To Low Income Families

The Empty Stocking Fund Auction raises money to spread some holiday cheer to low income families.

Coordinator Muggins Bennett says this year is the 26th year for the fundraiser and they hope to raise ten thousand dollars. The money raised at the auction will go to provide 600 food baskets and 22 hundred toys for needy families this Christmas.

Bennett says every year he is touched by these families and this year he wants them to know they are cared for.

"This year I'm wanting to buy a vase with a red rose and a ribbon and a card that says we love you, and we means everybody," Muggins said.

Bennett says there are still items to be auctioned. Another auction will take place next Friday in Cumberland.
