A Johnson County man is being held under a one million dollar bond after police say he killed his own brother.
William David Sowards is charged with murder after police say he shot his brother Frank Saturday night during a fight. Detectives say Frank Sowards was assaulting his wife Randi when she ran outside to get help from his brother, William David. Police say witnesses told them William David went inside his house, came out with a gun, and shot his brother.
They're still investigating why the situation ended violently.
"(He) was arguing with his brother. They were involved in a verbal altercation," says Detective Mitchell Adkins of Kentucky State Police. "According to witnesses, there was no assault or fight, or physical altercation between those two."
Detectives say neighbors told them Frank Sowards had been drinking during the incident.
