The auditor’s office released a report Thursday dealing with Kentucky's high school dropout rate.
State Auditor Crit Luallen says up to this point, the rate has been under reported. That's because schools have not been counting students who finish one school year but do not return the following year.
Luallen says that's keeping Kentucky from reporting an accurate dropout rate.
The audit also shows Kentucky's dropout rates cannot be compared to the rest of the country because drop out definitions differ among the states.
