You've probably seen those huge inflatable Christmas decorations. But in one community, they've been disappearing.
Residents of Phelps in Pike County say at least five inflatable decorations were stolen right out of their front yards. Now officials say they think juveniles could be involved.
Donita Hardin says she fell in love with Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer the first time she saw the clay-mation movie.
"As I had my children, we started watching it again and it was still on tv, still the Sunday night special usually, or Friday night and we would watch it," Hardin said.
Hardin says she started buying Rudolph Christmas decorations and when she saw the Rudolph inflatable snow globe, she knew it was the perfect addition to her collection.
"I actually think I bought it in October and couldn't wait to get it out. It's the first thing I put up," she said.
Now an empty box is all that is left in Hardin's yard where the snow globe used to sit.
"When Ii actually went over to the yard where it was staked, the cords were there but someone had untied it and left the stakes there," Hardin said.
But Hardin's house isn't the only place missing holiday decorations.
"That same night, a snow globe disappeared a couple of miles up the road. I think he lost two inflatables that night, and across the road someone lost one or two," Hardin says.
Hardin says she has no idea why someone would want to steal inflatable decorations.
"Somebody was out in my yard and took something that means something to me. You know, if you had asked me and maybe needed it, probably I would have given it to them," she said.
Hardin says all she wants for Christmas is for Rudolph to come home, no questions asked.
