Fallen State Trooper To Be Honored

(FRANKFORT, KY) At 1:00 PM EST, TODAY, Kentucky State Police Commissioner Jack Adams will be laying a wreath at the Fallen Trooper Memorial in remembrance of Trooper Jonathan Leonard. Trooper Leonard was fatally injured in a vehicle crash in Pike County on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Commissioner Adams will also have brief media availability for interviews following the laying of the wreath.

The Fallen Trooper Memorial is located in front of Kentucky State Police Headquarters at 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort.

In addition, Commissioner Adams has directed the black mourning band to be worn by agency personnel in honor of Trooper Leonard. Trooper Leonard is the 24th Trooper to lose his life in the line of duty and is the first since Trooper Johnny Edrington was killed in Laurel County on December 21, 1988.

Funeral arrangements for Trooper Leonard are pending.
