Corbin Firefighter Loses Battle With Cancer

An Eastern Kentucky emergency service department is dealing with a loss of their own.

Friday evening, Corbin Firefighter Phil Warren passed away after a tough battle with cancer. Warren began his career as a volunteer firefighter more than 20 years ago. In 1991, he joined the Corbin Fire Department and served as captain for the HAZMAT team since 2001.

Warren was diagnosed with lung cancer this past summer. Tuesday would have been Warren's 43rd birthday.

Memorial services for Warren will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Central Baptist Church in Corbin followed by a procession of fire trucks that will take Warren's body past all three Corbin fire stations.
