Police Involved In Shooting In Pike County

The investigation continues this morning into a police shooting that left one man dead and two troopers injured.

It all happened around nine thirty last night on US 23 and 119 in pike county.

Officers say they were chasing a suspected armed robbery suspect on US 23 in pikeville. Kentucky State Police used a tire deflation device to stop the car then police say a passenger in the car 26-year-old John Michael Keen of Elkhorn City refused to comply with officers orders and reached for a weapon. Thats when trooper Chris Phillips and KVE officer Keith Justice opened fire killing keen.

Police say the driver of the car 32-year-old misty damron of Elkhorn City surrenderd with out any problems.

Trooper Chris Phillips received minor cuts during the incident and was treated at the scene. A second trooper alfred bunch received a minor eye injury and was treated and released from pikeville medical center. Trooper Phillips and KVE officer Keith Justice will be on administrative duty while the shooting is investigated.
