Team May Compete Against School That Waves Confederate Flag

DAVID, Ky. (AP) - A high school basketball team may have to show
up for a game they voted to boycott.
The eight-player team at the private David School voted
unanimously to boycott their game scheduled for January 19th
against Allen Central High School. The David team includes one
black player. The players agree that the opponent's use of the
Confederate flag is a form of taunting.
The David School's board of directors has issued a statement
saying the decision by the team and its coach quote-"was made
without the consent of the appropriate school
administrators"-unquote.
The statement says the decision is invalid and the basketball
schedule stands.
