Several scholarships are given out during the WYMT Whayne Supply Mountain Basketball Classic. One recipients of the Ralph Gabbard Broadcast Scholarship is already heading in the right direction.

Kelsey Sebastian may be a senior in high school, but she already knows a lot more about the news business than most.

"I'm the director. I've had the class three times before so I've been an anchor before and I've run graphics before and now finally I'm the director," Kelsey said.

Kelsey works on the news broadcast at Breathitt County High School and is now planning to pursue the career with the help of the Ralph Gabbard Broadcast Scholarship.

"Getting this scholarship could put me in the right place," Kelsey said.

Kelsey says choosing a career is a hard decision to make, but this scholarship may be her deciding factor. While Kelsey is excited about college, she hasn't wasted any time at Breathitt County High School. In addition to being a Governor's Scholar, Kelsey stays busy with many other organizations and friends.

"I play volleyball and softball here at school and I'm in a lot of clubs, National Honor Society, Science Club, Student Council and I'm here all the time for the basketball games we travel with our team and that's a lot of fun just to be here and be able to do all that," Kelsey said.

After graduation, Kelsey hopes to attend the University of Kentucky or Eastern Kentucky University.

We'll have more on the other two recipients of the Ralph Gabbard Broadcast Scholarship later this week.
