LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Former Lieutenant Governor Steve Henry intends to file candidacy papers to run for the Democratic nomination for governor next week.
Henry declined to discuss his running mate situation, except to say he's "pretty far along" in vetting potential partners.
The Louisville orthopedic surgeon said he does not intend to put his wife, former Miss America Heather French Henry, on the ticket.
But if Henry wins, he said he would elevate the Department of Veterans Affairs to a cabinet and name French Henry to lead it. He say's she would make one dollar a year.
State Treasurer Jonathan Miller and former Lieutenant Governor Steve Beshear are also seeking the Democratic nomination.
The deadline for candidates to enter the governor's race is January 30th.
