Governor Ernie Fletcher will have to win the Republican Primary without help from the party's key leaders. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has said he will not endorse anyone in the primary. Fifth District Congressman Hal Rogers echoed those comments during a taping of Issues and Answers. Rogers says he considered throwing his hat into the race.
"I think I can do more good for the people of Kentucky, in my district especially, here than I could there, so as flattering as that notion is, I think I can do more good here." Rogers said.
The congressman talks about a number of issues including the President's new plan for Iraq and raising the minimum wage. You can hear the entire interview Monday night at 7:00 pm with a replay Sunday morning at 6:00 am on Issues and Answers The Mountain Edition.
