The search for a missing man is over. Police say they found the body of Larry "Bruce" Huff Thursday morning in Letcher County, just a few miles from the rest home where he was living.

Larry "Bruce" Huff has been missing since Monday, January 8th and 10 days later the family knows where Huff is but it's not the outcome they hoped and prayed for.

The body of Larry "Bruce" Huff was found only miles down the road from the rest home where he was staying on the side of U.S.119 between Jenkins and Whitesburg.

"It's put some closure to it, but it’s going to haunt my husband for a long time," said Huff's daughter-in-law Donna Huff.

Huff walked out of the Golden Year's Rest Home in Jenkins on the afternoon of Monday the 8th. Jenkins Police Chief Mike Dingus says they were contacted around 9 a.m. on Tuesday the 9th, nearly 17 hours after the nursing home says Huff left.

Huff's loved ones say he was placed at Golden Years because he suffers from dementia, schizophrenia, and is bi-polar.

"If you knew Bruce back a long time ago, he was a real good person," said Huff's brother, Robert Huff.

Now the family is upset Huff was placed in a non-secure facility and Huff's son says he wants the nursing home to be shut down and that's why they have a lawyer.

"That's the only good that can come out of what has happened and it’s sad that it had to take my dad's life to do it," said Huff's son, Johnny.

The administrator of the Golden Years Rest Home did not want to talk on camera, but he did say they provided a good home for Huff and Huff tried leaving several times before but they caught him in Jenkins the other times.

"At this time no foul play's suspected, appears to be natural causes, the autopsy will give us a little more information on that, said Jenkins Police Chief Dingus.

Huff's body is being sent to Frankfort for a full autopsy.

WYMT has confirmed with the state inspector general's office that there is an open investigation into Golden Years Rest Home. However, officials couldn't say what that investigation was in reference to. When we tried to contact Tackett for a comment on that investigation he was unavailable for comment.

We'll keep you updated on any new developments in this story as new information becomes available.
