Republican gubernatorial candidate Billy Harper made a stop in Hazard Friday afternoon.
"One of the reasons I'm here is to listen as well as to talk because the people of Eastern Kentucky know what they need much better than I do," says Harper.
"My main interest would be how do we work with Eastern Kentucky and the coal people and the residents here. Coal won't last forever and that may be 50 years or 200 years, but how do we build an economy that will carry this part of the state beyond coal."
Harper is a businessman from Paducah.
He'll be making a campaign stop Saturday in Leslie County.
