Doctors, nurses, and other health department employees can now talk with each other across the state without even leaving their building.
23 county health departments, including some here in Eastern Kentucky, can now connect to each other through video conference. Now public health officials across the state can talk to each other whenever they need to. They say it will help them get information faster if they have a question or will help if there's a medical related disaster.
"This will enable the health departments in the state to more effectively communicate and be trained, decrease travel to Frankfort or Louisville for training," said Pike County Public Health Director Paul Hopkins.
Pike County officials say they're looking at connecting to Virginia and West Virginia as well.
