Kentucky's social workers could have access to panic buttons under a bill announced by Governor Fletcher Wednesday.
The bill would add hundreds of staff members and enhance safety measures for those already working in the field.
The bill is named for 67 year old Boni Frederick, who died last October during a site visit between a foster child and a birth parent.
Senator Daniel Mongiardo is one of the bill's sponsors.
"These social workers are harassed, they are attacked, they are in very critical situations on a moment's notice," Mongiardo said.
The legislation would provide for neutral, supervised visitation where children in out of home care can safely meet with their birth parents.
