FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A proposal to raise the speed limit on parts of Kentucky's Interstate highways has cleared a legislative hurdle.
The Senate Transportation Committee today approved a plan that would increase the interstate speed limit to 70 miles per hour. The maximum speed permitted on state interstate highways is 65 miles per hour.
Governor Fletcher called for the increased speed limits last year, but the idea never became law.
The bill heads to the full Senate for further consideration.
